The drive ends at the parking area on the near bank, in Nova Caraíva. From there into the village it is by canoe, and that is true for everyone: there is no bridge and no road to the sand streets.

The same road passes Praia do Espelho
Once the asphalt ends, the route crosses the Vale dos Búfalos, passes the Pataxó village of Imbiriba and the hamlet of Itaporanga before reaching the river. The turn for Praia do Espelho, in the Curuípe district, is on that same road, between Trancoso and Caraíva.
