Is the ferry crossing included in the transfer?

Yes. Coming from Porto Seguro means a ferry to Arraial d’Ajuda before the road to Trancoso, and that crossing is part of the trip we agree. You do not buy a separate ticket or work out the timetable yourself.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track the flight by number, not by its scheduled time. If it is delayed, the driver adjusts the wait and the ferry departure. No need to message from the plane — just give us the flight number when you get in touch.

Do you cover late-night arrivals?

Yes, but the planning changes: at that hour the ferry runs at reduced intervals, which alters the total journey time. Night arrivals therefore need to be agreed in advance rather than sorted out at the airport.

How early should I leave Trancoso for the airport?

It depends on the day and the season, because the real risk is the ferry queue, which on busy days can exceed an hour. We calculate departure backwards from your boarding time instead of using a fixed buffer that ignores this.

Can you drive into Caraíva?

No. The car stops at the riverbank parking area and the crossing to the village is by canoe with a local boatman. After that it is sand streets to your pousada — a large wheeled suitcase is the most common first-timer mistake.

How does payment work?

Payment is agreed directly in the conversation, along with the route and the date. There is no charge or booking through this site: contact happens on WhatsApp and no payment details are requested here.

Do you have child seats?

We do, but they must be requested in advance because the seat depends on the child’s age and weight. Mention it when arranging the transfer so the vehicle arrives ready.

What hours does the ferry run?

Around the clock. Departures leave every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to midnight, then hourly from midnight to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday; Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights keep the 30-minute rhythm all night. In high season the boats run continuously. The crossing itself takes about 10 minutes — the rest of the time is queue.

Can the car reach the Quadrado?

Not inside it. Municipal Decree 16.865/2025 bars vehicles from the Quadrado, the Bosque and the area around Praça dos Hippies, allowing only residents with a garage, licensed taxis at their stands, accessible transport and essential services. Parking there is prohibited too. We agree the nearest drop-off point to your address in advance.

Do I need a rental car in Trancoso, Bahia?

For most stays, no. A car cannot enter the Quadrado or reach Caraíva at all, large vehicles cannot circulate in Trancoso between 10 a.m. and midnight, and since June 15, 2026 Porto Seguro charges an environmental preservation fee on visiting vehicles — R$ 3 per day for a motorcycle, R$ 9.90 for a passenger car, per day of stay, collected by license-plate cameras. If long regional drives are the point of your trip, a car earns its keep. If you are arriving, staying in the village and taking two or three day trips, it rarely does.

Could I get there by bus instead?

You could, and it is worth knowing how: taxi from the airport to the ramp, the foot-passenger ferry — 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. — then the Viação Águia Azul bus to Trancoso, roughly 97 minutes and 69 stops. Traveling light and landing in daylight, that is a fair option. With a 3 a.m. arrival, big suitcases or a small child the math changes: every transfer happens with the luggage in your hands.

How far is the airport from Trancoso?

About 47 km (29 miles) by car ferry through Arraial d’Ajuda, or about 75 km (47 miles) on the road-only loop. Both numbers circulate online because they describe different routes — and almost no source says which one it measured.
